La Crosse city council split decision on funding
One project for $200,000 approved,
another for $50,000 denied
It was a split decision on funding a couple of big studies in La Crosse by the city council.
In a Thursday night meeting, the council voted for funding a study that would basically encompass a comprehensive plan for the entire north side. The focus of the idea is on the Hwy. 53 corridor from interstate Exit 3 to the La Crosse River.
The study will cost about $200,000 of mostly grant money.
But, the council also turned down mayor Tim Kabat’s plan to spend $50,000 in reserve cash to develop a process for revenue sharing and fees with surrounding communities.
Kabat had hoped the process could be a part of other negotiations regarding boundary agreements with those communities.
