Three years, three different standardized tests for students
This year’s test results
were basically throw-aways
Educators across the state of Wisconsin are dreaming of the day when they can stop switching from one standardized test to the next.
Sometimes in back-to-back-to-back years, like what’s happening now.
Last year’s Badger Exam for students in K-12 schools was a big change from the WKCE tests for students the year before.
Also different from the Forward Exam getting administered this spring.
All the change makes evaluations challenging, says Mike Lichucki, in charge of testing in La Crosse schools
“It is really difficult from the school side of things,” he said. “when you are constantly trying to learn how a new test operates, how the technology works, how it functions, much less try and gather really good data.”
Test results from last spring’s Badger Exam were just released by the state this week. Most critics see the test as a one-off with throwaway results.
