Kabat searching for Plan B in funding study
Council voted against
using $50,000 reserve
If La Crosse mayor Tim Kabat had a secret stash of cash in his office, this is one of those times when he might consider using it.
Kabat says he doesn’t know what his next step is in finding funding for a fee-and-revenue-sharing study that could help in the current boundary agreement negotiations with surrounding communities.
It’s those communities that Kabat has said should help La Crosse pay for the services it provides to those outside the city.
Late last week, the city council voted against the $50,000 in funding from city reserves for a study, with critics preferring a wait-and-see approach.
Kabat says, while he has no immediate plan ‘B,’ he does feel pretty confident he can figure something out.
