Ron Johnson admits he was wrong.

Wisconsin’s republican senator says he simply misspoke during a radio interview on Chicago’s WLS, when he referred to South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, who delivered the response to president Obama’s State of the Union address last week

“Governor Hailey is an immigrant,” Johnson said. “She has powerful stories of being an immigrant and experiencing discrimination herself and so she’s obviously going to react differently than someone who’s never experienced that.”

Haley, while a child of immigrants, was born in South Carolina.
