Roosevelt Elementary sold
Expected to be
turned into apartments
For many years, it was the oldest elementary school being used in La Crosse.
Now, the Roosevelt building is very close to being private property.
The La Crosse school board approved the sale of the school to the Gorman And Company of Madison in a quick vote last night. Superintendent Randy Nelson says they now have to wait for the sale to be completed in early June.
Over the last two years, the district debated how Roosevelt should be used, with many neighbors wanting it turned into senior housing. Gorman’s plan is to develop apartments in the 90-year-old building.
