Arkansas allows charteuse

Pink is now officially the new orange.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has signed into law a bill that allows for fluorescent pink to be worn by hunters in place of the currently required blaze orange.

Supporters unapologetically say the purpose is to get more women involved in hunting. Some women have complained that the very intention is sexist and condescending.

Before now, during the state’s gun deer hunt in the fall, more than half of the hunter’s upper body and their head had to be covered by blaze orange. Wisconsin is the first state to allow pink.

Since the 1990s, Arkansas has allowed charteuse in addition to orange.
