La Crosse airport unveils $14-million makeover
Building opened in 1989
It’s the same building with a, somewhat, different look inside.
The La Crosse Airport has rededicated its terminal, after a $14-million internal makeover.
The building originally opened in 1989, and airport manager Clint Torp says it needed to be brought into the 21st century.
“Over time, with any facility,” Torp said, “the terminal had become outdated – failing mechanical systems, inefficient line spaces, security challenges and a holding area that was barely capable of supporting 100 passengers at any given time.”
The main passenger waiting area, security screening, and gift shop have been moved to the second floor. A new USO lounge for traveling service members has opened at the south end of the terminal.
