La Crosse tourism board could move
Study suggests location near I-90
It could be time for La Crosse’s tourism bureau to make a permanent move to the Exit 3 area.
La Crosse County tourism director Pat Stephens says a study by staffers at Kwik Trip recommended the Rose Street-Highway 35 corridor as a better place for a convention office, rather than the current location at Riverside Park.
If it relocates, however, where would the bureau be built?
“Actually, our board doesn’t care,” Stephens said, in referencing putting the bureau north or south of I-90.
Stephens told the La Crosse Center board that a location near I-90 could lead to three times the visits that the tourism center gets now.
For a brief time, the CVB operated a welcome center near Exit 3 when the French Island visitor center was closed.
