Police often called to vagrancy problems

A new playground is on the way for a downtown La Crosse park.

While Cameron Square between Fourth Street and Fifth Avenue is often where police respond to vagrancy problems, that’s not keeping the city council from approving a play area for children in the park.

Fun for kids may be on the mind for some approving the $50,000 for the playground, but the existence of the area in Cameron Square also means that alcohol is forbidden there under city ordinances.
