La Crosse to pay slightly more for garbage recycling pickup
Harter’s Quick Clean Up gets about $2 million from city
Not much of a price hike for garbage and recycling in La Crosse this year.
The city’s board of public works has approved a half-percent increase for Harter’s Quick Clean Up, based on the consumer price index.
What that means: two cents more for each garbage cart and a penny more for recycling carts.
The public works board annually approves a CPI adjustment for the Harter’s contract. Last year’s adjustment was slightly higher.
The city pays Harter’s about $2 million a year to pick up garbage and recycling. There are more than 30,000 carts in the city overall.
