La Crosse schools dropping off First Student as bus company
Students were sometimes hours
late, so Go Riteway takes over
You can tell there’s already relief in La Crosse schools over the change in bus provider for next school year.
Superintendent Randy Nelson is looking forward to a long-term relationship with, what he expects will be top notch bus service.
“It was a difficult and prolonged decicision to do that, to get there,” Nelson said, “but in the end we feel we made a really good decision for the district.”
Go Riteway Transportation will be taking over busing in the fall for the district with a new 10-year contract that costs $600,000 more than the current contract with First Student.
But, getting kids to where they need to go on time – not hours late – was something First Student couldn’t accomplish this school year after changing bus routes in the fall.
