Organic farm conference takes over La Crosse Center

Over 3,000 in attendance

They come from all over the globe. Farmers and others descending on downtown La Crosse for the weekend MOSES organic farming conference.

It’s one of the biggest events held at the La Crosse Center, now in its 26th year. More than 3,000 are estimated to be attending the conference.

People like Tony DiMaggio, who was on his way to the medicinal herb class at the conference. DiMaggio is moving back to the region to begin his farming future.

“The world’s only going to be a better place if we make it so,” he said. “If we don’t care for the earth, it’s not going to care for our grandkids and so on. It’s important.”

Eric Heinz, an organic farmer from Lake Geneva, Wis., was making a weekend of the conference with ideas of networking and learning on his mind.

“As farmers we spend a lot of time alone working, so it’s nice to come and gather with everyone else before we have to get back out on the fields and work,” Heinz said.

 

Organizers say the conference draws from all over the globe and includes close to 200 exhibitors. Many in attendance said one way to make the conference better, find a bigger place to hold it.
