Hilltoppers in tourney for
second time in three years
Here’s Tyler Ebner’s third-period goal that eventually sent the Onalaska High School boys hockey team to state.
The top-seeded Hilltoppers defeated Wisconsin Rapids/Lincoln 3-2 on Saturday afternoon at the OmniCenter to advance to the state tournament for the second time in the last three seasons.
At 5 p.m. Thursday at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, the Hilltoppers (24-3) will open with Hudson (23-4) quarterfinals.
Onalaska goes up 3-1 as SR Tyler Ebner spins his way to the best high school goal in CRSN history for the the eventual GWG to help Onalaska advance to the WIAA state quarterfinals.

Onalaska didn’t take long to get a lead on Rapids/Lincoln (18-9). Midway through the first Jacob Dirks put them on the board, assisted by Tyler Ebner. Minutes later, Sam Dabrowski followed a Jamal Wagner shot for a goal and 2-0 lead.
Onalaska never did relinquish the lead, though Rapids/Lincoln pulled within 2-1 midway through the second quarter, before Ebner’s decisive goal.
