Tomah VA whistleblower sees run against Ron Kind difficult
Kind has deep pockets and
knows the players, believes Honl
The guy who exposed rampant drug abuse at the VA medical center in Tomah, Wis., says he’s got better things to do than run for congress.
Ryan Honl is notorious for blowing the lid off the prescription drug problems at the VA.
He’s no stranger to challenges as a war vet, but he’s decided within the last 24 hours not to run for congress against La Crosse democrat Ron Kind, for a number of reasons.
“It’s a pretty uphill battle,” Honl said. “Ron Kind has been there 20 years. He’s got deep pockets. I don’t. And he’s got special interest (groups) behind him.
I kind of have to weigh my options. I’m going to be heavily involved in the Republican Party and supporting Ron Johnson for reelection.”
Honl says, beyond that, he’ll also spend time getting more familiar with third congressional district politics in general.
