Davids not impressed with president touting Obamacare

Minnesota Rep. says it was
better before the health exchange

Don’t try to tell Greg Davids Obamacare has been a success.

The republican state lawmaker from Preston, Minn., isn’t buying the new claims by president Barack Obama, that his signature health plan has translated into historically high percentages of people who have health insurance

“Well we had 95% of Minnesotans insured before Obamacare,” Davids said.

Despite that, Davids, a Republican that sells insurance, says he would welcome a move to the federal health insurance exchange, rather than stick with MNSure, the state’s exchange.

All MNSure has done, says Davids, is cost $300 million to reach not even a tenth of the uninsured it was meant to when the site launched.

MNSure has led to thousands of those that signed up, not getting required tax forms.

So, Davids isn’t listening when the president calls Obamacare a success

“Just because he says it, doesn’t mean it’s true,” Davids said.

Obama, just last week in Milwaukee, claimed that 20 million more have gained health coverage than before Obamacare and that coverage is now at historic highs.

“I guess if you’re supposed to be a high jumper at six foot, and you put it down to one foot, and you clear the one foot, that you had a success,” Davids said. “That’s not success. It’s an abysmal failure and anyone that says different is just flat out lying to you.”

Davids just sees a train wreck of government mismanagement.

“If somebody comes into my office today,” Davids said, “and says, ‘Greg I want to buy buy a health plan.’ I can’t sell it to them because it’s not open enrollment. So it has made it tougher to get coverage, than it was before.”
