Getting state ID in Wisconsin oddly difficult

A mobile DMV won’t even 
be considered, says expert

In some parts of Wisconsin, getting a state ID is very hit or miss.

DMV offices in counties throughout the state can be open two-or-less days per week. Sometimes a lot less, says Matt Rothschild with the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign.

“Many DMVs are not open very often in rural areas,” Rothschild says. “Sauk City, it’s open only the fifth Wednesday of every month, which is four times a year.

“It’s hard to get the your voter ID or renew your driver’s license, if it’s open only six days a year or four days a year”

And that’s become a bigger problem in Wisconsin now that an ID is required to vote, says Rothschild. 

When Rothschild was asked, “you don’t believe anyone is going take action on a mobile DMV center?” Rothschild replied, “I’m willing to bet my house on it.”

A Washington Post investigation found that, from 2000-2014, there were 31 possible incidents out of over a billion ballots cast when it came to possible voter fraud.
