Most reports come from residence halls

The number of bigotry or race-bias incidents reported at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, so far this year, is 126.

Most of those reports happened at residence halls, according to the group Campus Climate, which monitors and provides assistance to those who feel discriminated against.

“This year, we’ve seen an increase, which isn’t unique,” Amanda Goodenough, with the group that formed in 2005, said. “Almost every year that we’ve been monitoring this since 2005, there has been an increase.”

Goodenough says the more reports they receive the better they can understand problems on campus. She added the reports come from those who aren’t directly impacted by the actions but stand up because they feel it’s wrong.
