Polar Plunge La Crosse overachieves again
Event for Special Olympics
exceeded goal by $2,000
They’ve added up the numbers and beaten the goal again.
Organizers of the La Crosse Polar Plunge for the Special Olympics raised $132,000 Saturday – $2,000 above its goal.
And, it couldn’t have been a much better weekend to jump into the river – for the crews, anyway. The water is still freezing cold.
“It actually just makes it easier for our setup crew to come out Friday, because there’s a lot less work to do without having to cut and remove all the ice,” Event spokeswoman Kerry Gloede said.
About 750 people took part in all the Polar Plunge activities at Pettibone Beach. It was the last of 14 Wisconsin Polar Plunges for this season.
