Snow in March is a wonderful thing?

Snow predictions range from 5-14 inches

Expect 8-14 inches of snow. Today. In April.

That’s what the National Weather Service predicts throughout the Coulee Region – La Crosse County getting up to 11 inches by the time the storm passes through.

Madison meteorologist Karl Klopotic, however, predicts 5-10 inches in the area.

“Right now we’re looking at a big storm coming out of the Rockies and a warm-front forming to our south,” Klopotic said. “You might think, “Well, it’s a warm front and we should warm up.

“Well, that’s not the case. We should have northeasterly winds cooling us down and that’s why our precipitation pattern does transition … basically from rain to snow.

The heaviest areas of snow are expected to be north of La Crosse in both Wisconsin and Minnesota.
