Presidential candidate visiting West Salem
River Steel hosts John Kasich
The Brennans at River Steel have hosted politicians before.
When Gov. John Kasich stops by the plant in West Salem, Wis., on Monday to hold a rally, that will be the first presidential candidate.
“It’s a great opportunity to bring attention to manufacturing in the area,” James Brennan said.
Doors open for the public at 11 a.m. and the event kicks off at noon. You can RSPV here.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has had an event at River Steel in the past, as did congressman Ron Kind and current Speaker of the House and Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan.
“I’m a little bit surprised the attention that’s been given to it,” Brennan said, “but, at the same time, the brighter the limelight, the more attention we can bring to manufacturing and the jobs it brings to Wisconsin.”
Brennan was happy to host an event for Kasich. He likes Kasich as a candidate, but that doesn’t necessarily matter.
“To be honest, i don’t think I would ever say no to any candidate,” Brennan said. “The opportunity to bring a candidate, even one that’s maybe opposed to manufacturing … it would still give us an opportunity to educate them a little bit. To have an open discussion with them.”
