School board incumbents not on ballot, hoping for write-in votes

Jake Speed only one on ballot

Nomination paper gaffs have kept the Onalaska school board president and another member off this April’s ballot. 

Board president Ann Garrity, along with Tim Smaby, feel, however, their write-in campaigns will be sufficient to get them reelected.

“I’m optimistic, that if the voters get out, and take the extra few minutes to write us in, we’ll have a good next three years,” Garrity said.

She added that there is a big difference in qualifications and experience between her and Smaby, and Jake Speed, who submitted his papers correctly and is the only person on the ballot for the board.
