La Crosse’s week in the political spotlight continued Tuesday, as former First Lady, Hillary Clinton, brought her presidential campaign to Western Technical College.
Bernie Sanders caps off the three-day presidential nominee visit at 7 p.m. today at the OmniCenter. Doors open at 4.
Clinton, in front of around 300 people, was introduced by state Sen. Jennifer Shilling, packing into the Integrated Technology building, which she toured before the rally.
Afterward, Clinton capped off the afternoon visit with a tour of the Pearl Street Brewery, in the old rubber mills building, where she had a Downtown Brown beer.

During the rally, Clinton took aim at Republicans in a couple different ways.
First, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.
“One of the big differences that I have with my distinguished opponent, Sen. Sanders, who talks about free college, is his plan depends upon governors, like your governor (jeers from crowd) putting in a lot of money,” Clinton said.
Clinton said Walker’s cuts in the university budget amount to a “wrecking ball” against higher education.
She then brought up climate change.
“You hear (republicans) talk about climate change,” Clinton said. “You know what they all say? They all say, ‘Well I don’t know, I’m not a scientist.’
“Well, come to Western and talk to people who can explain it to you. Right?”
