Police chief Trotnic started event in 2015

Back for a second year, the Celebrate Onalaska festival.

The free event runs June 24-26 at Van Riper Park.

The festival is the brainchild of Onalaska police chief Jeff Trotnic, who wanted to offer the community a weekend of entertainment without charging a bundle for admission.

“It was very important for us to develop an event where we didn’t have kids or families on the outside looking in, wishing they could participate,” he said of the event that will feature multiple activities for children.

Details of the program for the second year of Celebrate Onalaska were announced Thursday.

Popular performers on the schedule this year include the Vic Ferrari band, the Studebaker 7 and singer Pat McCurdy.
