Sanders, Clinton and Trump visit area, but no Cruz
Republican presidential candidate
sent Utah Sen. Mike Lee instead
Presidential candidates are pulling out all the stops before Tuesday’s primary to get support in order to win Wisconsin.
John Kasich was in West Salem last Monday, where 200 came to listen. Three hundred came to see Hillary Clinton at Western Technical College on Tuesday. And, Wednesday, Bernie Sanders packed the OmniCenter to the tune of over 3,300.
At 10 a.m. today, Donald Trump should see about 1,500 pack into the North Hall of the La Crosse Center. Doors open at 8 a.m.
The only presidential nominee not to show up has been Ted Cruz. And he’s not coming.
Instead, he sent his friend Mike Lee from Utah to Tom Sawyer’s Bar and Grill on French Island last Friday.
“He tells you the truth, that he does what he says he’s going to do,” Lee said. “The Constitution has been undermined. We got too much power being taken to Washington D.C. We’ve ignored the critical demand of the Constitution … we’ve ignored the people.”
Lee says the most important way to help Cruz is to get out and vote on Tuesday. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.
