La Crosse Rep. party chair 
believes Cruz’s win is huge

Only one presidential candidate didn’t visit the La Crosse area in the week heading into Tuesday’s primary.

Oddly enough, that is also the candidate that won.

La Crosse County Republicans met in town Tuesday night and appeared to be celebrating a Ted Cruz win in the the Wisconsin presidential nomination primary.

“I’m not at all surprised by the outcome,” La Crosse County Rep. party chair Bill Feehan said of Cruz’s over-13-point win. “I am surprised at the margin and this is a watershed moment in the race for the nomination.

“This is probably going to stop Donald Trump from reaching the magic number.”

Feehan added that candidates were drawn to the La Crosse area because there are implications in November, as well for the eventual nominee. 

Others in attendance seemed upbeat about the victory.

“I’m super happy Cruz was the winner,” said one attendee at the gathering named Misty. “I liked him from many years ago, because he’s big in the Constitution and he doesn’t back down when it comes to that. I have a lot of respect for that. 

The mood was generally festive as the numbers came in throughout the evening.

The Republican nomination race seemingly gets more interesting from here on out, but some are steadfast on voting Republican no matter who wins the nomination.

“I don’t want to, but I’ll vote for (Donald) Trump if we have to vote for him,” Misty said. “But I don’t want to because I don’t care for him. But I will vote for him before I vote for Hillary (Clinton) or Bernie (Sanders).”
