Tuition rising at UW-L and four other schools in system
Out-of-state, graduate students will
see a four-percent increase next fall
Out of State and graduate students planning on going to UW-La Crosse next year will be seeing an increase in tuition costs.
The University of Wisconsin board of regents has agreed Thursday to raise the cost of tuition for five schools including La Crosse in the UW system.
UW-L will get a 4-percent increase. Out-of-state students will pay $18,459. Graduate students in a non-health program from Wisconsin will pay $10,310, graduate students from Minnesota will pay $11,192 and other out-of-state students in graduate programs will fork over $20,679.
The school is also requesting permission to raise tuition from between 3.68% ($321) to 3.98% ($954) for all graduate and MBA students, and students in the popular programs of occupational therapy, physical therapy and physician assistant.
Administration says UW-L will raise just over $500,000 with the changes.
The supposed reasoning for the increase is an adjustment to $250 million in cuts from the 2015-17 state budget.
Other UW schools seeing increases will be Milwaukee, Platteville, Stout and Whitewater.
