Donors come through for humane society in record time

Took four days to get funds for new fence

Dogs need to run.

Shelter dogs may need to run the most.

The Coulee Region Humane Society has the space, but needed a fence repaired to give the dogs ample room to do so.

So, it started a go-fund-me page and the donations poured in.

“(We) were able to raise that money in four days,” Samantha Luhman with the shelter said of the $3,000 goal. “We had a lot of people that wanted to support this project. It was really cool to see those people come in and make very generous donations.”

The fence, installed this weekend, will allow staff and volunteers to proceed with hundreds of games of fetch throughout the day again – instead of games of ‘dig under the fence and escape.’ Obedience classes should also enjoy the extra room.

“Volunteers are walking dogs around the property instead of playing fetch in the back,” Luhman said.
