Right to work, headed back to court
Workers and Republicans can agree on that
Right to work is heading back to the courts.
Neither labor in Wisconsin nor Republican lawmakers, who put a right to work law into place, believe otherwise, after a lower court overturned the state’s controversial anti-union law.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has no doubts that decision will be overturned.
Stephanie Bloomingdale with the state AFL-CIO, however, says she has no worries that ruling will be upheld.
“We believe this is the right decision, the judge made,” she said. “Union members now have their full rights in the private sector to bargain meaningfully together for a voice in the workplace.”
Friday, a Dane County judge ruled that the right to work law “takes” the property of unions for a public purpose without just compensation, violating the state’s constitution.
