La Crosse airport receives $270,000 funding

Money used for upgrades to fencing, lighting

Improvements to the La Crosse Regional Airport are coming thanks to some grant funding.

The Wisconsin Dept. of Transportation has set aside $270,000, which airport manager Clint Torp says will help with upgrades to perimeter fencing and gates.

“That’s a security enhancement project,” he said.

He also noted the airport will replace its lighting system that surrounds taxiways and runways.

The projects were on the airport’s list for several years and Torp is happy to check them off. Construction will begin next spring and shouldn’t have an impact on those flying.
