Seminar takes place Sunday

ONALASKA, Wis. — Teenagers from 13-17, are invited to take part in a seminar on financial literacy this Sunday at the Altra Federal Credit Union in Onalaska.

The free event takes place from noon-2 p.m. at 1700 Oak Forest Dr. Register by clicking here.

Financial Literacy Coordinator Tony Byers says they’ll mainly focus on credit, but also touch on student loans.

“Looking for ways to be able to pay for school,” he said. “Other strategies, and not having to rely as heavily on student loans. Looking for scholarships. Seeing what grants may be available And some of those post-secondary options while they’re in high school.”

Byers says it’s about teaching kids ahead of time, so they know how to be responsible with money when they’re adults.

Pizza and refreshments will also be provided. Participation is encouraged and prizes will be handed out with a grand prize drawing for a FitBit Charge HR.
