Trump inevitable, Clinton, perhaps not

Indiana could decide Trumps nomination

After voting today in Indiana, Donald Trump may be inevitable.

Trump is polling way ahead in the race for the Republican presidential nomination in Indiana.

A win doesn’t mean he has the race locked up, but a big win puts him that much closer, says University of Wisconsin-La Crosse political science professor Joe Heim.

“The party officials, frankly, may very well have to get on board here, because the voters, after watching all this think, ‘Well, you know, he’s our nominee,'” Heim said.

While the Republican contest in Indiana seems like a lock for Trump, things are much tighter on the Democratic side, and Bernie Sanders could actually win against front-runner Hillary Clinton.

All the polling data suggests that Sanders is a much more popular candidate when paired up against any Republican nominee. Sanders has a double-digit lead in every major poll against Trump and Cruz.

Clinton, meanwhile, doesn’t even win every poll against Trump. She averages just 6.7 points better than him, and just 4.0 points better than Cruz.
