Parks dept. burns 62 acres in county

Burn rids area of invasive species

Around 62 acres behind the weather station on County Road FA in La Crosse was being burned Tuesday afternoon in an attempt to rid it of invasive species.

Sunshine Love with the La Crosse County Parks Dept. said spring is the best time to burn, because good nutrients and seeds haven’t grown in yet so they aren’t being harmed.

Love said other preventative measures are planned for this summer on prairie lands in the county, although burning is finished until 2017.
