Frac-sand conference this week in La Crosse
Industry has fallen on hard times with low oil prices
There’s a big frac-sand conference May 10-11 in La Crosse. At least organizers are hoping for it to be big.
The industry, once booming in western Wisconsin, has fallen on hard times.
It’s happened as oil prices have bottomed out globally and oil derived from the fracking process – using frac sands from the region – has dwindled down to a trickle. But the Frac Sand Insider conference at the La Crosse Center promises a way forward when conditions improve.
Promotional material ahead of the conference says La Crosse is the ideal fit for the event, because it’s within driving distance of more than 125 frac-sand operations.
Of course, when the frac-sand industry comes to town, so do the protesters. You can read about that by clicking here.
