County to add another lawyer for first time in 20 years

Position, if approved, to handle lawsuits and other legal matters

La Crosse County’s office of corporation counsel is requesting a staff increase for the first time in almost 20 years. A staff increase in the name of another attorney.

The county board is being asked to add to the three-person staff that handles civil law matters for county government.  

The position would handle lawsuits and other legal matters.  

Chief corporation counsel Dave Lange made the main argument for more staff, and he was backed up by others in county government.  

The proposal for an added attorney could come to the full county board later this month.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
