Trees removed to stop emerald ash borer

The board of public works made two decisions today on issues in La Crosse.

First, it will play $9,000 to remove the stumps from the ash trees that were cut down to slow the spread of the emerald ash borer. Around 200 ash trees have been cut down in the city.

The other decision is to pay around $30,000 to repair a water-damaged parking lot.

The lot next to Hydrite Chemical near Copeland Park reportedly retains water, so cracks develop in the asphalt and part of a building is separating from a wall.

The lot could be used for parking cars during La Crosse Loggers baseball games.
