La Crosse has lost three in the line of duty

A somber ceremony Monday afternoon as local law enforcement agencies gathered at Riverside Park to remember those who died in the line of duty. 

The Police Officer Memorial Ceremony has been held every year since 1963, when it was signed into law by President John F Kennedy. 

La Crosse police have lost three officers in the line of duty, the last in 1937. 

Police chief Ron Tischer, Sheriff Steve Helgeson and Mayor Tim Kabat all gave remarks.
