Suspect arrested for murder in Sparta

Victim was shot at Water Street home

The fatal shooting in Sparta on Tuesday appears to be a murder, and police may have a suspect in custody.

It appears the shooter may have been arrested in nearby Juneau County.  

The victim was declared dead at the hospital, after being found unconscious at his Water Street home in Sparta around 8 a.m. Tuesday. Nobody else was in the home at that time.

Monroe and Juneau County officers have worked together to make that arrest.
