Meth and alcohol could be a factor

A 22-year-old man is facing charges after he stabbed a woman in the neck, to “see what it felt like.”

That’s the reasoning 22-year-old Shayne Swadley gave police after he stabbed a 45-year-old woman in the neck around midnight Thursday.

The woman is in critical condition at Gundersen Health System. Her survival will determine Swadley’s sentence.

The incident happened at a mobile home park in Wheaton, Wis. Police say meth and alcohol could be a factor in Swadley’s state of mind.

If the woman pulls through, Swadley will face attempted first-degree murder. If she dies, he’ll face a first-degree murder charge.

Swadley is held in the Vernon County jail yesterday on $100,000 cash bond.
