City watching Bliss Road carefully after heavy rains
Some in city hall talking of closing road
Bliss Road in La Crosse is being closely watched.
Seven days with rain have some worried that some erosion problems around the problematic road to Grandad Bluff could worsen.
All of it happening while some in city hall are talking about closing the road the next time there’s a big washout.
City council member Andrea Richmond says she plans to look at the road after yesterday’s big rain.
“I don’t know if the erosion is from more usage of the trails that are causing that or is it because of what did happen yesterday with this 1.3 inches of rain?” Richmond asked.
A firm is currently studying the road and unofficial estimates to fix some recent damage are over a half million dollars.
“I hope it never closes, actually, because it is a great asset up on that bluff for our whole community and our region,” Richmond said.
