Winona native, Republican Jeremy Miller, running for third term in senate

The 33-year-old has been in office since 2010

ST. PAUL — Winona, Minn., native Jeremy Miller announced his re-election campaign for his third term Tuesday. 

The 33-year-old Republican prides himself on working with both his party and Democrats. 

“I’ve had the opportunity to develop relationships and earn trust from my colleagues on both sides of the aisle,” he said. “In politics, that’s so important in order to get things done.”

The Minnesota Legislature adjourned last week without passing one key piece of legislation – a billion-dollar package focusing on several items including public works projects. Miller believes it could have helped Southeast Minnesota.

“It included funding for the Winona State (University) education village and the Lanesboro dam, which are two important projects for our area,” Miller said. “It included full funding for those projects.”

Miller, who is running for a third term since being elected in 2010, hopes he can get to work soon on the bonding bill under a special session from Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton.

Senators typically run four-year terms, but Miller had to run for re-election in 2012 after redistricting.
