Council approves $100,000 for Bliss Road area washout repairs

Engineering firm hired to evaluate stability of the road

Some money to deal with erosion issues near Bliss Road in La Crosse appears to be on the way.

Thursday night, the La Crosse city council finance committee approved spending close to $100,000 on repairing areas just below Bliss Rd. that have washed out, closing Hixon Forest hiking trails and threatening the city’s Forest Hills Golf Course.

The washout appears to be part of a larger problem of erosion that could impact Bliss Rd. itself at some point, possibly even forcing it to close.

An engineering firm has been hired to evaluate the stability of the road itself.

The full city council votes on funding the erosion repairs next week.  

The money used for repairs now is, apparently, leftover from past storm water projects.
