Trump front and center at Wisconsin Democratic convention
La Crosse’s Ron Kind, Jennifer Shilling take shots at Republicans
GREEN BAY, Wis. — Donald Trump is the center of attention all over the country, including at the Democratic convention over the weekend.
La Crosse Congressman Ron Kind said he is “shocked and dismayed” that Trump is going to be the Republican party nominee.
“We need to hold onto the White House,” Kind told those in attendance. “We cannot allow a person like Donald Trump be an occupant to the oval office for one minute.”
Kind says there’s no place for a person like Trump in the Oval Office, just as there is no place for racism, hatred and division there.
Meanwhile, the state Rep. Party is slamming Democrats for backing Hillary Clinton for president, and former Senator Russ Feingold to return to his old seat.
The GOP chair dismisses them both as career politicians.
State Senate Democratic leader Jennifer Shilling of La Crosse criticized Republicans for having misplaced priorities for how state money is spent.
“It seems that no matter what the situation, Rep. leaders continue to look for ways to black people out, to keep people down and to limit any hope that hard-working families have for success,” Shilling said.
