Duluth Trading Company to open, shut down Main St.
Grand Opening party set for June 16
Main Street in downtown La Crosse will be closed on June 16 for half a block.
That’s because of the much anticipated grand opening of the Duluth Trading Company in the historic Doerflinger’s building on the corner of Fourth and Main.
Store manager Troy Hegge says being in the building is a perfect fit for the company.
“That’s what we’re known for – get into a historic downtown building in the heart of a downtown market,” Hegge said.
The idea from there is to watch business downtown grow.
Hegge believes the presence of the big retailer at a high-profile corner will act as kind of retail anchor.
“Back in the day, that’s where all the shopping was down – in downtown areas,” Hegge said. “We’d like to be part of bringing that back.
“We’re the anchor that will help draw people down, but a lot of the smaller businesses will feed off that traffic, which is awesome. That’s what we’re all about.”
During the grand opening, Duluth Trading will feature lumberjack shows and a free barbecue.
