La Crosse Health Science Consortium receives $1.5 million grant
Money to help programs begin, develop over eight-year period
A $1.5 million grant was awarded to La Crosse’s Health Science Consortium to provide behavior health programs.
The grant, from the Medical College of Wisconsin, will be distributed over eight years.
The consortium includes both local hospitals and all three La Crosse colleges.
County health director Jen Rombalski said it’s fitting that La Crosse will work on mental health needs and positive behavior, and that the length of the program gives professionals plenty of time to make progress in meeting health concerns.
The plan, called the Changemaker health care project, goes something like: One year to make plans, five years to get the project going and two years to figure out how to keep them going.
Rombalski was also pleased the project won’t focus just on mental health issues.
Mental health is considered a top priority in La Crosse County.
