Multiple upgrades in La Crosse, while Ona. features new gymnastics center

The $11-million expansion project at the La Crosse and Onalaska YMCAs officially opened this week.

All of it funded by private donations and a small increase in membership fees.

“As we expected we just got rave reviews from members,” YMCA executive director Bill Soper said. “They love the new spaces.”

The last time fees were raised was 2006, Soper said.

La Crosse’s Y features a new wellness center on the second floor (pic above) – out from the basement – a new fitness studio (below) and an expanded cycling studio. There is also an added health-living center.

Onalaska features a new gymnastics facility.

All that’s left at the La Crosse Y is the some finishing touches outside.
