Once investigated La Crosse police officer back on the job

Former partner remains on leave

One officer who had been on paid administrative leave since last summer is back to work in La Crosse.

Dan Ulrich had been put on leave back in August as part of an investigation that lasted until just recently. The Neighborhood Resource Officer s back in that position on the south side.

The police department would not comment further on Ulrich’s case, calling it a personnel matter.

Fellow Neighborhood Resource Officer Nathan Poke, who was also part of an investigation, remains on paid administrative leave.

Police in December released results of an audit that found no merit to claims from Poke of a hostile work environment. Poke claimed he was subject to unfair scrutiny and retaliation.

Poke was under investigation internally after complaints of misconduct from the public and other officers surfaced.

Shortly after that investigation started, Poke made some claims about Ulrich at which point an outside investigation was started and the internal investigation ended.

Police would not comment on when the issues related to Poke might be resolved. 

Officer James Gegenfurter was placed on leave last week after getting arrested for drunk driving and hit and run.
