Date set for first paddle-wheeler to stop in La Crosse

Queen of the Mississippi will be first at Riverside Park

The first paddle-wheeler of the season is set to arrive in La Crosse on July 21.

The Queen of the Mississippi will be the first to stop at Riverside Park.

That may seem late in the summer, but Janet Dahl from the La Crosse County Convention Bureau says the cruise lines are trying to avoid early-season floods.

There are 20 La Crosse stops in all are planned for three boats that travel the upper Mississippi.

The last visit happens on October 17.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
