Wisconsin taxpayers to pay $75,000 settlement from arrests during singalong at capitol

Another 75 people have inquired about class-action lawsuit

MADISON, Wis. — State taxpayers will pay $75,000 in a settlement to a radio show host and his attorney after the host was arrested three years ago at the state Capitol. 

Attorney Jeff Scott Olson announced the settlement Tuesday on the “Devil’s Advocate Radio Show” out of Madison. 

The show’s co-host Philip Dominic Salvia was among those arrested in 2013 by Capitol Police in an effort to end daily singalong protests dating back to 2011. 

Under the settlement, Salvia will be paid $27,500 and Olson will be paid $47,500. 

Olson says about 75 other people arrested during that time have contacted his office about filing a class action lawsuit. He says that number could more than double. 

The settlement was agreed to by Attorney General Brad Schimel and Walker’s administration.
