Man beheads another after girlfriend allegedly was sexually assaulted
Victim was hit with baseball bat, stabbed, then decapitated
A northern Minnesota man beheaded another, then threw his head, after his girlfriend said she was sexually assaulted by him.
Thirty-five-year-old Joseph Thoresen is charged with second-degree murder.
According to complaint from through the Star Tribune, Thoresen hit Haiman, 20, with a baseball bat and stabbed him in the back and abdomen, before decapitating him with a machete and tossing his head.
The incident began at the couple’s apartment June 21 or 22. That’s where the girlfriend confronted Haiman in front of Thoresen. She was punching and kicking him. Thoresen also punched Haiman and said he should not have raped “my girl.”
The three then, apparently, left together in Haiman’s vehicle and smoked weed, then methamphetamine. The ended up near Ball Club Rd. and stopped because the car was, supposedly, having trouble.
That’s when Thoresen confronted Haiman in front of the vehicle. First, he hit him with the bat, then stabbed him, before taking a machete from Haiman’s belt and decapitating him. Thoresen then threw Haiman’s head into the woods.
Early Sunday, authorities found the torso. An hour later they found the head.
Friday, authorities tracked down Thoresen, in a short chase. The driver said Thoresen threatened him with a knife to keep driving. After police had Thoresen, he confessed to decapitating Haiman and stealing his vehicle.
Bail was set at $2 million without conditions during his first court appearance Wednesday.
