Kids in park after hours, man
admits to hit-and-run because of game

The craze that is Pokemon Go is not going unnoticed by La Crosse police.

As hordes of players seek to collect virtual Pokemon characters by playing a game on their phone, there’s been some reports of trespassing.

La Crosse police also report that about three dozen players had to be escorted out of Riverside Park one night this week because they were playing the game on their phones there after hours.

There’s also the hit-and-run that occurred Tuesday on the city’s north side. A 27-year-old guy admitted to police that he hit a car on Gohres St. and then took off.

He came to the police dept. to turn himself in the next day. It’s unclear how he hit the car, but he did mention it may have been because he was tired from playing Pokemon Go for eight consecutive hours beforehand.

Police cited him for hit and run and he was also wanted for an outstanding warrant in Trempealeau County.
